my brother's kids call me Yaya. my dad used to call me Truck. a few of my uncles call me Lola, but mostly everyone calls me Laurie.

i talk to myself A LOT.  I need to stop. I'm so weird.

i'm scared of your ugly face! does that count?? hahahaha. JK! no, don't really have any phobias.

The toughest job on the planet

Parenting. It is by far, the toughest job on the planet. I wish someone would have warned me beforehand. Thanks A LOT, guys! lol jk! I knew what I was getting myself into, I just didn't realize how tough it was going to be sometimes.

We seem to be having the same issues with Sophia at school. She's just SO social. Which is not a bad thing, you know, at the right times. But, during school she's just such a distraction to herself and to the other students/teachers. We had parent/teachers conferences a few weeks ago and it wasn't good. She's a good girl mind you, she just likes to TALK a lot, while the teacher is talking. We go through this every year. I dunno know what to do anymore. I don't like to spank my kids, only because whenever I do, I end up hurting myself somehow in the process. LOL Because I'm so damn clumsy. So, I try not to spank. I'll threaten the shit out of them with ass whoopin's, but I hardly dish em out anymore.  We tried the groundings. No phone, ipods, ds, tv basically nothing electronic. We've tried the sitting in the corner staring at the wall for a day, the No toys, we've tried it all and NOTHING seems to work.

one of my guilty pleasures is sitting here online going through nail blogs. like this one, this one, this one and this one. I could sit here all damn day and drool over nail polish swatches like I'm getting paid to do it. does that make me lame? probably, but I don't give a hoot. I LOVE nail polish. I think it's passed down from my mom. My mom always, I mean ALWAYS had her nails impeccably done when I was a kid. She still to this day always has beautifully kept nails. It's no surprise I have a love for nail polish and beautiful nails.

my favorite nail polish at the moment well, it's been a favorite since I got it, is OPI's Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection. It's so SO SO beautiful! omg! I just love it!! (I usually layer it over OPI's Lucky Lucky Lavender) Is that not beautiful? So pink and sparkle-y! gotta love it!


the other day I was at Target and I came across Revlon's Facets of Fuschia nail polish. I put it in my cart, but I dunno why on earth I ever pulled it out and put it back on the shelf. I remember thinking, "oh I'll probably never use this" SIGH! I was having a moment, I guess. I can't even begin to tell you how upset I am at myself about this. I could just kick myself in the rear end! I NEED this nail polish in my life. OMG!  It's a dupe for the Deborah Lippmann Bad romance! I don't even own any Deborah Lippmann (YET) that's just ridiculous, I know! But, hey we are a 1 income, 2 kid family. I can't afford such luxuries. (YET) someday I will have that Revlon nail polish and I WILL own my very own bottle of Deborah Lippmann glitter goodness. So help me god...

at my moms. nothing like fresh homemade tortillas slathered with some butter straight from my mamas kitchen! mmmmm...

1 sister (she's the oldest) my brother jr. passed away in '08, my brother frankie aka stanky and my youngest brother tito.

4. If your pets could talk, what would they say about you?
she's so funny. i love it when she baby talks to me, it makes me feel like a real baby. i love her, but i'm going to bite her if she keeps messing with me! lol

5. Which one do you follow most often, your heart or your head?
definitely my head. I hardly ever follow my heart. people would hate me if i did.

me: she used to be.
sophia: what happened?
me: her husband was crazy.
sophia: like OURS? 

LOL! yes, like OURS! kids say the funniest things!

life and little pickles...

So much has been going on in my life, I definitely  need a blog! The kids are doing good. Sophia is in 3rd grade now, Ernie is in 1st grade and he's READING! The only bad thing is we can't go around spelling words around them anymore when we're trying to hide stuff from them. We have to speak in spanish when we want to keep them out of the conversation, but they're so smart they'll probably catch on pretty quick to all of that!

We lost one of our dogs a few weeks ago. That was so damn sad. I loved her to pieces and it's so lonely without her. She was my little baby. =( i miss her terribly.

I just found out someone in my family is pregnant! Today actually! I'm not at liberty to say who, but OMG!! I'm so excited!!!! Yay!! babies are blessings!

I found myself in a little pickle this weekend. Was supposed to just be going to the movies on Saturday night, but after the movie we decided we wanted to go out for a few drinks. Only problem was, I hadn't planned on going to a bar and so I didn't actually wear any makeup out! GASP! I know right? I still can't believe I left the house without a lick of makeup on! I felt so naked.
